Luvs Art Project

The Luvs Art Project fuses fine art with the art of barbering at New Beginnings Barbershop in Southwest Baltimore—helping to break the cycle of isolation from traditional arts and higher education communities, while uplifting students, parents, and residents through culturally relevant art exhibitions and programming.

Many Sowebo residents say they’ve never felt comfortable walking into an art gallery or a museum. Lack of arts education and exposure has led to doubts, fears and skepticism of traditional arts institutions just blocks away. That’s what inspired the LuvsArt Project mission: “To bring the arts to people and people to the arts.”
