About: Coppin State University is located in the heart of West Baltimore. Founded in 1900 Coppin provides both undergraduate and graduate degree opportunities for citizens of the community, city and state. The College of Health Professions, College of Arts, Science and Education, College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, and the College of Business respond to the needs of the community by providing a quality education at an affordable price. Coppin strives to be a community centered University that responds to the needs of West Baltimore citizens. Over 70% of Coppin's students are first generation, low income students - a majority of whom come from Baltimore City. Coppin provides educational access to Baltimore citizens of all ages who wish to improve their economic and social condition. Coppin, as one of Maryland's Historically Black Universities, has a rich tradition of providing educational opportunity that leads to fulfilling careers for it's graduates. With an average age of 28, Coppin reaches across age, race and nationality borders to provide a current and relevant educational opportunity for it's students.
