About: Code in the Schools works to expand access to computer science education to under-served and under-represented Baltimore City youth. Code in the Schools is a non-profit organization inspired by the NYC non-profit “Chess in the Schools” and the “Code.org” initiative. Learning to code fosters creative expression while at the same time impartingconcretely applicable job skills.

Mike and Gretchen LeGrand founded Code in the Schools in 2013 to provide Baltimore City youth with access to high-quality computer science education. CitS partners with schools and after-school programs to bring classes to children who wouldn’t otherwise be exposed to computer science as a career or degree choice.
