Lauren McDade, Teach For America
Lauren's Fellowship:
Lauren recently joined Teach for America - Baltimore as the Specialist for Compliance, Operations & Support. In this role she oversees the Baltimore region's budget and fiscal compliance, office operations, and supports the Executive Director.
Background:
Lauren worked for the last three years for City Year Washington, DC, an education non-profit that places teams of AmeriCorps members in high-need schools to tutor and mentor students at risk of dropping out of high school. She brought her experience as an alumna of the program to her work on the development team charged with raising the resources to sustain and grow City Year's work.
Lauren has as M.A. in Politics and Education from Columbia University and a B.A. in Political Science from Towson University.
Why do you choose to live and work in Baltimore?
I've lived in Maryland nearly my entire life. After working in DC for several years, I was ready to come home to live and be part of the community.
What's one surprising fact about yourself?
New friends are always surprised when they find out I have a tattoo. I say yes, I actually have five.
