Kathleen Goodwin, Baltimore City Health Department
Kathleen's Fellowship:
At the Baltimore City Health Department, Kathleen is Special Assistant to the Commissioner, Dr. Leana Wen. In this role, she is helping to decrease disparities and improve health outcomes in Baltimore. She plans to build a career at the intersection of public health and medicine, working to improve well-being in vulnerable communities.
Background:
Originally from the Boston area, Kathleen lived and worked in New York City before moving to Baltimore in June 2015. While she studied South Asian history and worked in financial services, Kathleen ultimately decided to pursue a career in public health and medicine. She is motivated by the opportunity to work with innovative and determined role models at the Baltimore City Health Department.
Why do you choose to live and work in Baltimore?
I moved to Baltimore to complete my premedical requirements at Goucher College and quickly realized that there is incredible energy and motivation for positive change here. I'm inspired by the people I work with every day and believe that Baltimore is a city of resilience and courage.
What's one surprising fact about yourself?
I can do a lot of pull-ups.
